The Slazenger Challenge No. 1 tennis racket from the late 1970s, fondly known as the "Šmídovka," is the very racket Tomáš Šmíd used at the start of his illustrious career and is now up for auction. The racket is unused, unstrung, in mint condition, and signed by Tomáš Šmíd on both the frame and cover.
With this same racket, Šmíd won the Davis Cup in 1980 and reached the top of the doubles world rankings in 1984/1985. Additionally, during that period, he climbed to the 11th spot in the ATP singles rankings. In 1987, he triumphed in doubles at the Masters Tournament alongside Miloslav Mečíř.
