The iconic Kelly line was originally created in the 1930s by Hermès’ director, Robert Dumas, as an innovative and modern style of women's handbag. However, it wasn't until the late 1950s that it received its famous name, Kelly, in honor of Princess Grace of Monaco, the former film star Grace Kelly. According to legend, she was photographed holding the bag over her belly to conceal the first signs of pregnancy, which catapulted the handbag to the top of fashion accessories and earned it the nickname Kelly.
