Red head

Theodor Pištěk, on one hand connected with the world of racing cars and on the other with the world of art, plays with refined associations in Červená hlava (Red Head). He elevates a serial part, a 4.0 diesel V8 engine, into a multi-layered artistic object that lacks neither originality nor irony. Pištěk created only a small number of similar works, emphasizing minimal intervention in the components that caught his interest. However, many of these objects were lost along with the exhibition Angelus, for which they were intended, including Červená hlava (House of Arts of the City of Brno, September 25 – January 12, 2020, reproduced in the catalog on page 137). The presented work was also part of the long-term exhibition in the Gallery of Central Bohemia (States of Mind / Behind the Picture: Variations and Interventions, Kutná Hora, December 3, 2017 – November 23, 2025) and the artist's solo exhibition at the Karlovy Vary Art Gallery (June 30 – August 25, 2024).
